Sources for Crafts and other supplies for Troops in Kuwait
Where can I find things for my Girl Scout Troop in Kuwait?

Plaster of Paris - I found plaster of paris at an art store off Canada Dry Street just behind
the Mcdonalds there. ---Tracy T.
Popsicle sticks - You can get "tongue depressors" at the local pharmacies here as a great substitute. --- Carrie B.
Rock Salt - It's in all the coops, the Sultan Center, and some bakalahs, we just didn't recognize it! It's usually in little colored plastic bags and sitting next to the regular salt. The bags I've seen are in primary colors - red, yellow, or blue - and tied with string. You can feel that there are crystals of some sort right through the bags. In some stores it's in the produce department instead of near the salt, though. --- ASK art teachers
Ribbon - You can get it cheaply at the fabric souks. It's about 1 KD for a big roll of 1" wide ribbon, as compared to 4 times as much at Barakat! --- Adrienne B.
Rubber bands - 1 KD for a 1 pound box at Office 1 superstore in Old Salmiya. That's more than enough rubber bands for anything. --- Katie C.
Candy - You can find just about any kind of candy available in Kuwait at the Mishref co-op. They have a separate little candy shop in the grocery store with all sorts of things, including licorice string. --- Mardi H.
Spray bottles - 250-350 fils at Almirah Center (sort of like K-Mart) in Shuwaikh. --- Katie C.
Dye and dye fixer - a variety of colors and both hot water and cold water dyes are found at Barakat. --- Katie C.
Camping supplies - tents, stoves, and other big items are almost exclusively at Ace Hardware and True Value Hardware. You can find a few items at Sears and smaller items such as propane cannisters, small BBQs, charcoal, lanterns, stoves, etc. at Sultan Center. --- Katie C.
Latex or vinyl gloves - (good for all sorts of art projects) You can get them by the boxful at the Almirah Center in Shuwaikh. --- Katie C.
Cheap school supplies - rulers, pencil sharpeners, colored pencils, scissors, etc. as well as other items like nametags, cassette tapes are all available at the "100 fil" store downtown. There are other stores nearby that have other inexpensive items as well --- Sarah J.
